Vector vs. Raster Logo Files

This article describes the differences between vector and raster logo files, helping you understand which type is best for your needs.

Vector files are generally better for print because they can be resized without losing quality, ensuring your logo looks sharp and professional. We can handle either logo type, no matter what!

What’s the Difference?

  • Vector (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF):
Built from paths, so it scales to any size without losing quality—great for everything from small labels to large banners.
Tip: A PDF can be vector or raster; a vector-based PDF is preferred.

  • Raster (PNG, JPG):
Made of pixels. Looks great at its original size, but can blur if enlarged. Works fine when you upload a large, high-quality version.

How to Prepare Your Logo File

  • If you have AI/EPS/SVG: Export or save as PDF (outline fonts if possible).

  • If you have PNG/JPG: Use the largest, highest-quality version you have (avoid screenshots).

  • Transparency: If your logo needs a clear background, use PNG with a transparent background.

  • Keep it clean: Solid artwork (no photo backgrounds) gives the best print results.

If you’d like to update your shop logo, the request must come from a decision-maker (Broker or Admin). Please email a vector version of your logo (PDF preferred) to our Account Management team at am@markful.com. Only have a PNG or JPG? We can help convert it.

Only have a PNG/JPG? Email it to us and we’ll convert or rebuild your logo (minor design fee may apply). A vector PDF is ideal; a large, clean PNG/JPG works too. Questions? We’re happy to help!
