Payment Declined: What It Means & How to Fix It
If your payment didn’t go through, don’t worry—most declines are easy to resolve with a quick check or a call to your bank.
Common Decline Messages
-
Do not honor
Your card issuer blocked the transaction. This is usually a security/authorization issue (not a Markful setting). -
Merchant override decline
The issuer/network still declined the charge even after an additional authorization attempt, often due to mis-matched information.
Quick Fixes (Step by Step)
-
Confirm billing details
Make sure the billing address and ZIP/Postal Code exactly match your card statement. Double-check card number, expiration, and CVV. -
Check with your bank
Call the number on the back of your card and ask them to approve the transaction to Markful. Some banks auto-block new merchants, large totals, or online orders.
Once the bank approves the transaction, you will meed to run the card again on Markful.
Good to Know
-
If a payment is declined, you aren’t charged. A temporary “pending” hold (if any) will drop off per your bank’s policy.
-
For security, don’t email full card numbers. If we need details, we’ll guide you through a secure step.
